Publication Ethics

Progressus Humanitatis is a scientific publication containing previously unpublished research results in the field of Management. This scientific code of ethics statement represents the ethical code of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal: the management, editors, peer reviewers, and authors/writers.

This scientific publication code of ethics statement is based on LIPI Head Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. This Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications essentially upholds three ethical values in publication:

  1. Neutrality, namely freedom from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
  2. Fairness, namely granting authorship rights to those entitled to be authors/writers; and
  3. Honesty, namely freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief Editor:

  1. Determines the journal name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation, if necessary.
  2. Determines the membership of the editors.
  3. Define the relationship between the publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respect confidentiality for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors, and peer reviewers.
  5. Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors/writers, editors, peer reviewers, and readers.
  7. Develop a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding for the journal's continued publication.
  10. Build collaborative and marketing networks.
  11. Improve the quality of the journal.
  12. Prepare licensing and other legal aspects.

Editor's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The editor provides comments on the author's manuscript so that readers can understand the author's intended message, through comments written on the manuscript and/or through the discussion facility on the journal's website.
  2. Editors provide comments on authors' manuscripts in accordance with EYD (Enhanced Spelling) or other journal-standardized language.
  3. Editors strive to continuously improve the quality of publications;
  4. Editors prioritize freedom of expression objectively;
  5. Editors submit corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary;
  6. Editors ensure that authors' manuscripts do not contain racial, ethnic, religious, and intergroup (SARA) content or anything that could harm the publisher and coordinate the author's manuscript with the publisher's editor-in-chief if the manuscript is even slightly controversial.
  7. Editors receive, review, and follow up on complaints from all parties involved in journal publication;
  8. Editors support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics;
  9. Editors do not defend their own opinions, those of authors, or third parties, which could lead to non-objective decisions;
  10. Editors encourage authors/writers to improve their manuscripts until they are suitable for publication.
  11. Editors layout manuscripts for publication to ensure they conform to the journal's template. 12. The editor assists the editor-in-chief in finalizing manuscripts before printing and publication, particularly regarding language, format, and layout.

Reviewer Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the manuscript's scientific value and contribution to the development of science;
  2. Determine whether the manuscript is clear, complete, and relevant, and whether it fits within the scope of the journal;
  3. Refrain from providing personal criticism or comments; and
  4. Maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing information contained in the manuscript to others.

Website Administrator Duties and Responsibilities

The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the journal website. Specifically, the Website Administrator's duties include the following:

  1. Setting up the journal website;
  2. Configuring system options and managing user accounts;
  3. Registering editors, reviewers, and authors;
  4. Managing journal features;
  5. View report statistics; and
  6. Upload/publish accepted papers.
